At Forest Lodge School we are incredibly lucky to have a group of parents that get together to support each other and our children who have struggles with learning. These might be challenges with school work, behaviour in class, or social interactions for example. Children might be diagnosed with specific conditions such as those in the graphic, or maybe you have a gut instinct that your child is struggling in a particular area more than others.
The Parents’ Learning Support Group is a place to come for advice, guidance, support and friendship. We are part of the P&C and report to the school at each meeting about upcoming information events or common concerns. Sometimes we meet during school hours for a coffee, other times in the evening at a local venue. So there are plenty of options for catching-up and having a chat. To find out more, please contact us on the email address below. You can join our WhatsApp group to stay in contact with other members. We look forward to meeting you!
At school your class teacher is the first contact and support. The learning support program provides additional support in the classroom and families. You may additionally find help working with a pediatrician, psychologist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, or ADHD coach.
You can speak to the parents in our group for recommendations.
You can access our reference list at the following link. This is a list of various authors, podcasts, articles, videos on all things neurodiversity and inclusive education.
There are also a few books that are available to loan.
